Informative President's Forum
We had an enlightening discussion at the July President’s Forum. Joining me at the dais was City Clerk Shaundrika Edwards, Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett, Huntsville-Madison County EMA Director Jeff Birdwell and Planning & Zoning Services Manager Thomas Nunez. Each shared insightful comments about their department and I appreciate their dedication to the City.

Support for Food Bank of North Alabama
The Food Bank of North Alabama (FBNA) does invaluable work for our community and it’s always a pleasure to provide a little help to that organization. I recently presented a check for $7,000 to FBNA Development Director Bobby Bozeman from the District 5 Council Improvement Fund to help provide supplemental assistance to those who are experiencing food insecurity. Keep up the good work!

Behind the Scenes at Huntsville Botanical Garden
I enjoyed my recent tour of the Huntsville Botanical Garden, getting a peak behind the scenes of how everything works to make the garden one of Alabama’s gems. I also got to hear about upcoming projects and initiatives. Thank you to Director of Corporate and Government Relations Kaki Morrow and Vice President of Institutional Advancement Annette Alexander for the hospitality.

Congrats to Orion Amphitheater
It was great to spend some time at The Orion Amphitheater as the venue kicked off its summer event schedule with a fun celebration. Live music, food and drink highlighted the evening that provided a great opportunity to interact with the community. A special thanks to Council Member Bill Kling for joining me at the festivities. We’re immensely proud to have The Orion in District 5 and congratulations to the venue for being named in the top 10 amphitheaters in the world by Pollstar for tickets sold and gross sales.

Vermeer Southeast Groundbreaking
It’s always great to see companies choosing to do business in District 5. It was an honor to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for Vermeer Southeast off One Aviation Way near the Greenbrier exit on Interstate 565. Vermeer Southeast specializes in providing equipment, parts and services for a wide range of industries. Their investment in the western part of District 5 highlights the continued growth and opportunity unfolding across the community.
