We’re counting down to our Evening with Friends end-of-year celebration and hope to see you there! This week’s newsletter features stories of adventure (white-water rafting!), a bit of magic (fairy gardens!), and a sneak peek at our GrandFriends’ upcoming Wilmington water cruise. We hope you enjoy catching up on all that’s been happening around campus and beyond.

| We made it to May!
It’s the month of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Cultural Heritage, Mothers, Women’s Health, Better Sleep, Mental Health Awareness, May the 4th be with you, Cinco de Mayo, and honoring all military service members who gave their lives to protect us.
It’s also the month of graduations, college students returning home, panicking that you haven't booked summer camps yet (but you can HERE), remembering to pay off the beach house rental, and hopefully finding time to chase a little white ball down manicured lawns, likely with much frustration.

We had a fantastic final PA meeting this Wednesday, where we bid a heartfelt farewell—and an enormous THANK YOU—to our wonderful outgoing Co-Clerks, Sarah and Chelsea. Their leadership, dedication, and spirit have left a lasting impact on our community, and we are so grateful for all they’ve done!
We also gave a warm welcome to our incoming leaders, Tim McGlinn and Lexi King. The new team is already off and running, with their first meeting scheduled for next week. We’re excited to see their vision and energy in action as they lead us into the year ahead!

May kicked off with some big adventures for our students! The 8th graders had an action-packed week of cave spelunking, camping, hiking, and white-water rafting at New River Gorge National Park. Our 7th grade class toured all the classic D.C. landmarks and lobbied for just immigration policies on Capitol Hill, meeting with Senator Thom Tillis’s office. Meanwhile, 6th grade packed their days with museum visits around Raleigh-Durham and capped things off with a Durham Bulls baseball game—where Live Grace’s dad caught a home run ball!
Closer to home, 3rd and 4th graders spent two days at Camp Kirkwood, learning about bugs, insects, and pond life, plus all the best camp activities like canoeing, archery, and a ropes course. And tonight, 1st and 2nd Ggade are heading out for the beloved Seahorses Campout at Carolina Beach State Park, complete with s’mores and songs around the campfire.
It’s been a jam-packed 8 days already—and we’re just getting started!

Your input is so important—not only does it help shape day-to-day operations, but it also plays a big role in long-term planning and visioning for the school. Plus, your feedback helps us meet an important accreditation requirement through the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS).
Thank you in advance for taking a few minutes to share your thoughts and help us continue growing stronger!

Sustainability Spotlight ♻️ |
Looking for a creative way to connect with nature? Try making your own fairy garden! These miniature, magical spaces are a fun way to repurpose materials and encourage kids to think about ecosystems—no matter how small. Use natural elements like moss, stones, and twigs, and add a few upcycled touches like painted rocks or bottle-cap toadstools. Fairy gardens are a wonderful reminder that sustainability can be both imaginative and earth-friendly! ✨🍄🧚🏻

Our sweet Kindergarten Sea Stars pose with their fairy house creations, inspired by an outdoor lesson with Art teacher Sheri at Longleaf!
