Dream Fulfilled: Virtual Sports Event for Mr. Harris

Mr. Harris, a resident at A.G. Rhodes Atlanta, is a HUGE sports fan. When the Greater Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. (GMAC) did dream discovery at A.G. Rhodes Atlanta last year, Mr. Harris expressed his dream to attend a sporting event.

Due to COVID restrictions, the GMAC teens got creative and hosted a virtual sports themed celebration for Mr. Harris. The teens organized an amazing event and had a few surprises in store. Former NFL player Vince Green, current NFL player Chris Draft, and NBA referee Tom Washington joined the call and chatted with Mr. Harris!

National Volunteer Month!
April is National Volunteer Month and while the past year has been so different in every way, the commitment from our volunteer community to support our elders (and staff) has remained the same - if not stronger than before. Volunteers have not been able to be physically inside our homes, but that has not stopped them from engaging with our elders in so many creative ways! Volunteer groups have worked together to make sure the holidays were still a special time by donating Halloween goody bags, candy-filled Easter eggs, Mother’s Day jewelry, or just sending in a pick-me-up treats. A.G. Rhodes Board of Trustees Member Update

The Board of Trustees recently elected two new members to its board: Jocelyn Dorsey, former anchor, reporter, producer and assignment editor for WSB- TV, Channel 2 Action News, and a current member of the A.G. Rhodes Board of Advisors; and Frank L. Sims, Corporate Vice President (retired) of Cargill, Inc.

Additionally, Larry Minnix, an advocate in aging services and former CEO of LeadingAge, was elected to the esteemed and distinguished group of Trustees Emeriti.
