Holiday Hazards: Foods Your Pets Should Avoid

By Merritt Milam
The holiday season will be here soon. It’s a time for joy, togetherness, and great food. But for pet owners, it's also a time for increased vigilance. The festive foods that make our celebrations special can pose significant dangers to our furry friends. This month we'll delve into the hazards of holiday foods and the importance of safeguarding your pets from these tempting but potentially harmful treats.

Pet(s) Of The Month

Winston & Waylon
This isn’t a trick, and you aren’t seeing double. Our Pets of the Month are Winston and Waylon! Winston has been coming to Camp Wags for a little over a year.

He has made lots of memories, and he has so many friends. We don’t think he’s ever met a stranger! Now Winston is showing his baby brother the Camp Wags way! Waylon follows in his brother’s footsteps by being super sweet, funny, loving nap time, and never meeting a stranger.

We are so lucky to watch these two golden boys grow up at Camp Wags! Congratulations, Winston and Waylon!

Wags Partners With Iron City PAWfection
Stephanie Hazen is the owner of Iron City Pawfection, a dog grooming business from Vestavia that has recently relocated and partnered with Wags N Whiskers.
Stephanie has 19 years of grooming experience, and she is joined by her talented groomer, Ciara Sullivan, who has 6 years of experience. Together, they take the utmost pride in what they do and the services they provide, from bathing and brushing to nail trimming and ear cleaning. Stephanie has owned another grooming business before, and she has also managed a Petsmart salon and a few private salons.
Grooming is truly her passion, and she loves making dogs look and feel their best. Stephanie is absolutely thrilled to join forces with Wags N Whiskers, where she has found a team of dedicated and caring employees who provide outstanding care for every pet they look after. She is also excited for her clients to have more services such as boarding and training available for her clients!
Stephanie has a 10-month-old dachshund poodle mix named Maya, who also loves Wags N Whiskers. Maya enjoys playing with the other dogs and doing fun activities like “ice cream painting”. (P)UPDATE TIP

3 Easy At-Home Grooming Tips

Here are three easy at-home pet grooming tips that are relatively simple and can help keep your pet looking their best between their professional grooming at Wags.
Regular Brushing
Brushing your pet's coat regularly is one of the simplest and most effective grooming tasks you can do at home. It helps remove loose fur, prevents matting, and promotes a healthy coat.
Eye Cleaning
Some pets, particularly breeds with prominent eyes or tear-staining issues, may benefit from regular eye cleaning. Use a damp, clean cloth or pet-safe eye wipes to gently wipe away any discharge or stains around your pet's eyes. Be careful not to touch the eye itself.
Nail Trimming
Keeping your pet's nails trimmed is essential for their comfort and well-being. Long nails can lead to discomfort, difficulty walking, and even injury. Use a pet-specific nail clipper or grinder. Clip the tip of each nail, avoiding the quick (the pink part inside the nail). If you're unsure, it's better to trim a little at a time.
