International Mind-Body Wellness

Start the year by checking in with your body and mind. Even small habits can help ease stress and improve focus. International Mind-Body Wellness Day was celebrated on January 3.

WELLNESS HABITS

Try a 60-second reset: 3 deep breaths (inhale 4 sec, exhale 6 sec)
Walk with intention: move to spark creativity or stretch between classes
Build a sleep ritual: reduce screens, dim lights, and wind down
Hydrate mindfully: infuse water with fruit or herbs
Take tech-free breaks: pause and notice your surroundings
Practice together: invite friends or classmates to stretch, walk, or reflect

Cervical Health Awareness Month

The National Cancer Institute projects that approximately 13,820 individuals in the United States will be diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2024, and over 4,360 will die from the disease. Most cervical cancers are caused by high-risk HPV strains—but they’re preventable.

PREVENT HPV:

The HPV vaccine (Gardasil 9) protects against 9 high-risk strains; available for ages 9–45.
Pap smear screenings are recommended starting at age 21.
Talk to the IVC Health & Wellness Center or your provider to learn more about screening and prevention.

FREE FLU SHOTS FOR STUDENTS

Protect yourself and others this flu season—get your free flu shot at the IVC Health and Wellness Center! Available while supplies last.

FENTANYL TEST STRIPS/NARCAN AVAILABLE

In compliance with the Campus Opioid Safety Act, the IVC Health and Wellness Center is providing free Narcan and fentanyl strips to students upon request. Stop by the IVC Health and Wellness Center or Campus Police to pick up a free kit and education materials. Learn more about the signs of an overdose and how to take action.

FREE SPIKED DRINK TEST KITS

The IVC Health and Wellness Center and Campus Police offer free spiked drink test kits to students, in accordance with Assembly Bill 1524. Stop by the IVC Health and Wellness Center or Campus Police to pick up a free kit and educational materials. Supplies are limited, so be sure to pick one up soon.

FREE CONDOMS AT THE HEALTH CENTER

Stop by the Health Center for free condoms and lubricant! We want you to stay safe! You can also learn more about free reproductive health services, including how to apply for Family PACT and receive free STI/STD testing!
