Patriot Post - November 16, 2024 |
Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,
As we enter the beautiful month of November, a time of thanksgiving and reflection, I am reminded of these words from St. Teresa of Avila: “In all created things, discern the providence and wisdom of God, and in all things, give Him thanks.”
This season invites us to pause and reflect on the blessings we have received and to express gratitude for the gift of family, community, and faith. At Carroll, we are grateful for your partnership in a Catholic education, where educating the heart and mind is paramount in all we do. This week, our Interact Club provided two services to the community- making casseroles to feed 200 homeless mothers through Mercy Hospice and feed 50 elderly citizens a Thanksgiving lunch. John Kopcha from the Rotary Club wrote, “You are grooming some wonderful students at Archbishop Carroll High School. The enthusiasm of these young ladies and men is quite inspiring. They attack these projects with a sense of purpose and enjoyment knowing that this work makes a difference in the world.” I am so grateful for this service club, led by Mr. Quintois. Their commitment to service brings so much joy into the community.
As always, our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to fostering an environment of faith, academic excellence, and joy. We are excited for the events planned this month and encourage you to stay connected with us through our newsletters and announcements. A few highlights for this month include:
The amazing production of Cinderella by our talented students. Please come out to support them on November 21, 22, and 23. It really looks to be one of the best shows yet!
Philadelphia Catholic Youth Conference is being held at Immaculata University on November 23rd.
Our second school liturgy is being held on November 25th. Parents and families of students are always invited.
Parent Teacher Conferences are quickly approaching on November 26th and more information can be found below, and then on Monday evening.
Please take a moment to review updates from our various offices...

From The Office of Student Services... |
After-School Supervision Reminder:
After-school Supervision is offered for all students on most days until 5:00PM. Supervision is open for students who are waiting for a ride or a sport or activity to begin. Students should be using this time to get work done, or socialize quietly with their peers so that other students can work.
Students are not permitted to remain after 5:00PM. They must exit the building at that time.
Students staying for after-school supervision are expected to remain in the designated location (Library or Cafeteria) and not be wandering the building. Students found out of bounds will both receive demerits and not be permitted to remain after school.
No students are permitted to be in the academic towers after 2:45PM unless they are in a club meeting.
After-School Supervision is an extension of the school day, and students still must abide by all rules set out by the school, meaning, the use of appropriate language, behavior, etc.. If a student does not have a reason to remain after school (ride, activity, sport, meeting), they should be heading home.
Attendance:
If you know your child is going to be absent from school, a Parent or Guardian must complete the Google Form found HERE, and on the school website under "Resources".
Early Dismissals must be called into the Main Office by a Parent or Guardian. A student will not be dismissed without a prior Parent/Guardian phone call.
For Early Dismissals, as much advanced notice as possible is required (24 hours is preferred).
For any questions on attendance, please email Mrs. Gallagher - Erin.Gallagher@jcarroll.org.

From the Guidance Department... |
We have a few colleges visiting with us next week: Scranton, Harrisburg, & Millersville, and on Monday, Nov. 25, we have Community College of Philadelphia and the Naval Academy. Any interested student register for these events through their Naviance account or by using the sign up sheet in Guidance. Applying to the Naval Academy takes some time and involves a process, so any interested student is urged to attend this session to learn about the steps involved.
The Guidance Department publishes a Newsletter every quarter with information for each class and some mental health tips & resources. You can find our latest edition here.
You can find financial aid for college updates from PHEAA HERE. Also, November is National Scholarship Month. Seniors were given a list of scholarship websites to use as an aid in searching for available scholarships and are reminded to keep checking their Carroll email - we will send information regarding scholarships when we receive it.
Seniors are asked to send us any college acceptance letters and scholarship offers. Not only are we excited by the good news, we need to keep track of this information.
