We are composting! At Elysian we are doing our part to save the planet by helping create healthy soil. In partnership with Community Compost Company and the City of Hoboken, our food waste is collected, taken to farms where it is recycled into compost, which is used to fertilize the soil. Our food scraps are collected twice weekly and sent to farms where it is mixed with other organic material into compost. Compost is used to enrich the soil by cycling nutrients back into it. So instead of the food waste being headed into landfills, our food scraps will do a job to contribute to healthy soil and to help food grow. It will also be very interesting for us to see how much food is thrown away at school. There are lots of opportunities for learning while participating in this free composting program. PTSO Corner MOVIE NIGHT CANCELLED - The Movie Night fundraiser scheduled for Friday, March 29, has been cancelled. Instead our middle schoolers will be hosting some smaller fundraisers in the coming weeks!
Get ready for Krispy Kremes and waffles! Waffle Day will be Friday, April 5!

Annual Grilled Cheese Fundraiser
The 5th Grade is having their annual grilled cheese fundraiser sale on Thursday, March 28th and Friday, March 29th to raise money for their Mystic, CT trip.
These tasty treats, prepared and grilled up by our very own 5th grade students, will be available for the cost of $3 for one sandwich or buy two sandwiches for $5.
These tasty treats will be sold at both lunchtime and dismissal on BOTH days!
Please help us out and buy some grilled cheese awesomeness!

| Dressing for a Fire Drill
We perform monthly fire drills in which the students have to quickly leave the building without their coats.Please make sure your child is dressed warm enough during these cold days.

| A note about attendance: The New Jersey State Law is very specific about school attendance.
By law, children are expected to be in school every day unless they are ill.
There is no room in the law or regulations to excuse any children who have prior plans.
We must mark all children absent who are not in attendance.
