Fall arrived this week, and we're ready for fall gardening. To get started, we checked with Encore Azalea inventor Buddy Lee for his expert tips for fall planting. Read them in our blog.
Why is fall a great time to plant azaleas? With cooler nights and more frequent rainfall, the stresses of summer fade, and plants can get back to the business of growing.
Cooler temperatures are ideal for root growth. In fact, plants continue to develop roots as long as soil temperatures are above 40 degrees Fahrenheit. This means fall-planted azaleas have several months of active root growth through fall, winter, and spring before the next steamy summer season.Â
