Shout-Out For FMCA RV Insurance
I have had my personal insurance with FMCA RV Insurance for several years, and my experience was so positive that they now carry my business insurance as well! I appreciate having the agents there be an advocate for me, especially with a difficult claim. FMCA RV Insurance has provided me outstanding customer service, and I can’t recommend them enough.

How Do I?

New RV, New RVer
For some of us, taking the leap to become a first-time RV owner can be daunting. You may have questions about what you should look for in a new RV; if you’re purchasing a preowned model, what should you double-check? Maybe you are more inclined to rent before you buy in order to try out a few different models or types.

Other factors may seem intimidating as well: for instance, planning, packing, hitting the road, and having alternate plans if an accident happens. Questions about everyday RV care and maintenance. Or, simply, how to remember all of this potentially overwhelming information?

Well, here's the good news: Once you get the hang of things, RVing becomes second nature, almost like riding a bike. And FMCA is here to help your learning journey by providing RV education 24/7. For another excellent source of RV information, check out the expansive, in-depth First-Timer’s RV Tool Kit provided by Go RVing. It not only covers any questions you may have as a new RVer, but it is great information for veteran RVers to keep handy as well.

FMCA Adventure

Keep The Wheels Turning
New RVers need to learn the ins and outs of their motorhome or travel trailer. Seasoned RVers also benefit from keeping up with the latest innovations. Whether the topic is technology, driving, camping tips, or other hacks, FMCA has some great ways to increase all RVers’ knowledge.

FMCA University offers members 24-7 access to an online library spanning decades of RV know-how — more than 700 articles in 50 categories. After reading an article, take a quiz to test your RV knowledge, if you like. You can even earn badges and rewards as you learn.

If you enjoy blogs, add FMCAdventure to your list. Timely topics include travel sites, RV with pets, must-have items for the RV, renovations, roadworthy recipes, and much more, written by many of the top RV bloggers.

Plan on attending an FMCA international convention? Sign up for one or more educational sessions offered by the FMCA Academy right before the event begins. One is RV Basics, a 2½-day course led by knowledgeable instructors in a casual classroom environment. The goal is to acquaint or reacquaint attendees with RV operation and systems. Topics focus on preparation, operation, and maintenance practices essential for trouble-free travel. Other preconvention sessions offer hands-on learning by instructors from the RV Driving School: The RV Driving Class includes a day in the classroom and a second day behind the wheel of your RV. The RV Backing Class combines classroom instruction and work in your RV, all in one day.

FMCA’s online Forums embody the community concept: RVers helping RVers. Discussion categories run the gamut: RV types; technical; communications and travel; technology; rights and advocacy; lifestyle; and more.

Since 1964, FMCA has published a magazine to inform, educate, and entertain members. Today, Family RVing continues the tradition by reporting on RV maintenance, systems, and components, plus new product info, RV reviews, travel and lifestyle topics, association news, and more.

The Best-Case Scenario For The Worst-Case Scenario
Medjet
FMCA’s newest partnership provides discounted offers for members through Medjet. Medjet Air Medical Transport + Travel Security Membership is unlike most health insurance, travel insurance, platinum cards, and business travel accident policies, whose medical evacuation benefits typically only transport you to the “nearest acceptable facility.” Medjet takes its members to a hospital of their choice at home.
Campground of the Month
Crockett, Texas
Camp – Fish — Sleep — Repeat. This inviting piece of advice appears on the campground’s website. The property sits on Houston County Lake in Crockett, Texas. (The town is actually named for Davy Crockett, who reportedly spent time there.) Accommodations include 116 RV sites, both pull-throughs and back-ins; two clubhouses with full kitchens; a lakefront beach, 23-slip marina, and boat ramp; a heated pool; a playground; even a Hunt Brothers Pizza. A great place for families or rally groups.
Looking for a place to camp? We can help! The FMCA RV Marketplace lists FMCA commercial members that provide a variety of RV-related goods, services, and campground accommodations. Many offer discounts to FMCA members – another way to save with us!

Colcannon Potatoes
Sláinte! Cheers To St. Patrick’s Day!
You don’t have to be Irish to enjoy celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. People of all backgrounds join the festivities each year. Although celebrations take place worldwide, some of the most popular ones seem to occur in the United States. This includes huge parades in New York; Boston; Chicago; and Savannah, Georgia. In Canada, Montreal and Toronto are home to fun-filled celebrations as well. Note that parades may take place on weekends rather than on March 17, and many cities host festivities apart from the procession itself.

Curious about the history of St. Patrick’s Day and interested in knowing more about related celebrations? Ever wonder how shamrocks and leprechauns became symbols of the day? History.com has those answers and more. And if you’re looking to travel to a spot with festivities, check out La Mesa RV’s list of the top five places to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, including campground suggestions.

You may want to host your own celebration. Add splashes of green to the RV or campsite and cook up a traditional Irish feast. To get you started, here’s a recipe for colcannon, a popular Irish potato dish, courtesy of Taste of Home magazine. Cheers!
