March 2016
Dear Charter School Supporter,
It's that time of year – the 2016 regular legislative session officially kicks off today. From now until June, expect to find LAPCS at the Capitol, keeping track of all legislative activity that may have an impact on charter schools.
From the bills that have been pre-filed, it's clear that charter schools and school choice will face another tough battle this session. We're prepared to continue our work of passionately advocating on behalf of charters and educating the legislature and the general public on charter school facts.
As I've said before, we need your support to ensure the charter school movement stays strong in Louisiana. It matters when parents, teachers, school leaders, and board members show up to legislature/BESE meetings. It matters when those who are affected by bills show up and testify before their elected officials. Please sign up to receive our advocacy alerts here – we'll be calling on you to do this during session multiple times, and I look forward to seeing you stand up for charters in Baton Rouge.
Sincerely,
Caroline Roemer
Executive Director, LAPCS
