Innovative Teaching Spurs Exciting Media Avalanche

With our Middle School English class Field Notes project (by teacher Rebekah O'Dell) featured this week in the New York Times, combined with the immense NATIONAL and INTERNATIONAL press that Kensey Jones's 2nd grade persuasive writing project with Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC) has received, we can't stop SMILING!
Our St M faculty brings great passion, creativity, and innovative instruction to our classrooms every day and we are beyond excited that their efforts and ideas are being noticed on the world stage.
Prestigious news sources like the Today Show, The Washington Post, Southern Living Magazine, NPR, ABC World News Tonight, The New York Post, The Richmond Times-Dispatch, Fox News National, I Heart Radio, and even the international press in England and Italy, have all taken notice and featured St M in stories over the past two weeks.
And there is MORE TO COME as St M's 2nd Grade/RACC writing collaboration will be featured on:
  • The Drew Barrymore Show (expected to air at 3 p.m on Wednesday, April 6, WRIC/Channel 8)
  • NBC Nightly News Kids with Lester Holt (likely appearing on April 14)
  • Good Morning America (date still TBD), and
  • DER SPEIGEL, the largest German news magazine/website (awaiting run date).
A BIG shout-out to RACC Director and St M parent Christie Peters for championing the 2nd grade writing project and collaborating with us at all hours on the whirlwind press.
Looking at these press mentions, what wonderful proof of how St. Michael's does small in a BIG way!
