Impactful Research Mentorship Series for Grad Students

The Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Education is hosting a new workshop series for graduate students who want to enhance their communication skills and develop strong mentoring relationships. Students who attend at least five workshops in the series and complete a brief reflection assignment and capstone project will earn a Certificate of Completion. The first session, Impactful Mentoring: Setting Expectations, will take place on Wednesday, September 18 (in person) and again on Wednesday, September 25 (virtual via Zoom). Registration is required.

The Hertz Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2026 Hertz Fellowship. The Hertz Fellowship provides financial and lifelong professional support for the nation’s most promising graduate students in science and technology. Hertz Fellows receive up to five years of funding. In addition, fellows take part in mentoring, symposia, and workshops with an influential community of more than 1,200 peers, creating lifelong connections that will accelerate your career. Join the TI:GER Program (Technology Innovation: Generating Economic Results). TI:GER is a two-term educational program that can be taken as a PhD minor. National Suicide Prevention Week is Sept 8-12
|
The Center for Mental Health Care and Resources and campus partners are participating in National Suicide Prevention Week, Sept. 8-12. The campus is invited to participate in the week's events designed to support students' mental health and provide everyone in our community with the tools they need to help others. Signature events include: Peek Behind the Beak on Sept. 11 at 5 p.m., in the Cypress Theater (John Lewis Student Center). Come meet Freddie Falcon, the Atlanta Falcons' official mascot, as he takes off the costume to speak about his experiences with suicide and mental health. Or participate in the Hope in Motion 5K on Sept. 12 at 7 a.m. at the Campus Recreation Center. The cost for the race is $15, and all participants will get a free T-shirt.

|
Being a college student can be an intense and demanding journey, and this experience can become even more challenging with changes in the larger society. Whether it be elections and political turmoil, wars, social strife, or economic instability, national and world events can leave students feeling confused and unsure about the present and the future. This uncertainty can affect academic performance and well-being, and sometimes lead to mental health concerns. The Center for Mental Health Care and Resources has resources to cope with these stressors.
