Hi Neighbor!
When lots of action items are rolling around in my thoughts, they careen down a wintery mountain in my mind. Like a cartoon’s runaway snowballs, they gather everything in their path, growing larger and larger.
Instead of thinking about everything that is required, I write it all down, stopping the snowballs before the momentum starts. I’m a big fan of thinking but it’s no substitute for doing. Most often, the list of things to do isn’t as overwhelming as my mind perceives it.
Through the day, one by one as items on the list are completed, I draw a line through each and feel a sense of accomplishment. By 5 o’clock and often much sooner than imagined, I’ve moved from thinking there’s too much to do, to showing proof of accomplishment. Yes, I’m type A all the way and this check list of achievement is super satisfying!
I find that writing things down, making lists is helpful. I focus on whatever’s first and continue moving along. No thinking about it. No mental avalanche. One step, one action item at a time. And much more quickly than I think, I’ve completed and happily checked off everything. It’s my way of mentally melting the runaway snowballs before they form.

Meals On Wheels in Need of Volunteers
Reality is that many of our Main Line neighbors unnecessarily go hungry- or are not properly nourished- every day.
Every weekday, Meals on Wheels delivers two nutritious meals to about 120 patrons out of both Devon and Bryn Mawr locations. New patrons who are unable to shop or cook for themselves, regardless of ability to pay are welcomed. Those who need these services should call.
Meals are delivered by volunteers, who help as often or seldom as they wish, starting around 10:15am. Volunteers work in teams of two: a “driver”, and a “visitor” who carries meals to the residences. Local “routes” consist of about 12 patrons; delivery takes about two hours. Please call if you think you’d like to help. Monetary donations are greatly appreciated.
