On Thursday, November 13, 2024, the Department of Campus Safety received a report of a sexual assault/fondling that occurred at approximately 10:55 a.m., at the intersection of Washington Square North and Fifth Avenue, in Manhattan.
The victim, an NYU student, exited Washington Square Park and proceeded toward Fifth Avenue. As the student approached the crosswalk, an unknown person traveling in the same direction walked up behind the victim, touched their buttocks without their consent, and continued quickly passed the victim. There were no further interactions reported.
No physical injuries were reported. The student was offered support services.
Description of Suspect: The suspect was described as male-presenting with a light complexion, approximately 5'6" wearing camouflage green pants, a beige three-quarter coat with a black hood, black trim on the shoulder area and inner arms, a black hoodie and carrying a grey cloth bag. The victim described the suspect's race/ethnicity as white.
