The projects should utilize the specific services provided by one or more of the UW Nathan Shock Center Cores. View the RFA here. The awards are generally up to $10,000, depending on the specific needs of the applicant. Applications from institutions outside of the University of Washington are strongly encouraged.

McKnight Brain Research Foundation Innovator Awards in Cognitive Aging and Memory Loss
Deadline: August 12, 2025
The McKnight Brain Research Foundation (MBRF) and the American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR) will provide up to two 3-year awards of $750,000 (USD) each to advanced Assistant Professors and recently appointed Associate Professors (MDs and PhDs.) One award will be made to support studies focusing on clinical translational research and another award toward understanding basic biological mechanisms underlying cognitive aging and age-related memory loss.

Rolling Deadline
The Dorothy Dillon Eweson Lecture Series provides support to encourage investigators in the field of aging research to present findings at an annual scientific or medical specialty association meeting where aging-related research is not the primary focus.
