Dear GW Business Community,
November offers us a season of reflection, connection, and gratitude. It’s a time to celebrate the diversity of perspectives, cultures, and traditions that make GWSB stronger.

Native American Heritage Month
|
We started reflecting on the Native American Heritage Month with an insightful talk by Professor Robert Miller, Arizona State University, on Doctrine of Discovery on October 25th 2024. In his talk, Professor Miller discussed how this doctrine affected and continues to affect Indigenous communities. We thank Professor Arthur Wilson for leading this important event.
This month reminds us of the profound contributions, histories, and cultures of Indigenous peoples across the United States. It is an opportunity to honor the resilience and wisdom of Native communities while reflecting on the historical and ongoing challenges they face. Let us take this time to educate ourselves, amplify Native voices, and support initiatives that promote Indigenous rights and representation.

Thanksgiving reminds us of the importance of gratitude, family, and togetherness. As we gather to celebrate this holiday, let us also take a moment to reflect on its origins and the complex history it represents. Thanksgiving is an opportunity to focus on building bridges of understanding.
As we approach the holiday, let us extend our gratitude not only for what we have but also for the people and experiences that shape our shared journey. Acknowledging both the joy and the lessons of our histories strengthens our ability to foster equity and empathy in our daily lives.
|
We will have our book club discussion in February 2025. We will be discussing Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabelle Wilkerson. Holiday season can be a great time to start reading. We are grateful to Allene David for organizing this book club event. More details will follow.
|
This November, let’s reaffirm our commitment to building an inclusive environment where gratitude and diversity thrive. Together, we can make this month one of celebration, learning, and connection.
Thank you for being an integral part of this journey.
