On May 31st, we proudly hosted the 6th Annual Learn2Derm's Health Fair in partnership with the Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, and despite the sporadic monsoon weather, the event was a resounding success! With the support of an extraordinary team of volunteers, community leaders, and generous sponsors, we welcomed over 150 attendees and conducted 60+ free skin cancer screenings in The Skin Cancer Foundation’s mobile clinic. The day was led by our inspiring co-founders, Drs. Sarah Hannah Millan and Deega Omar, who were reunited to spearhead this meaningful initiative. They were joined by a powerhouse board including Savanna Vidal, Peter Baek, MD MS, Umayr R. Shaikh, MPH, Nikkia Zarabian, Mana Nasseri, Alicia Edwards, and Nikita Menta. (Apologies if we missed anyone—we’re grateful to every single contributor!)
We extend a heartfelt thank you to our academic allies at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Georgetown University School of Medicine, and Howard University for sending outstanding resident support and amplifying our impact. A special shout-out to our incredible sponsors whose commitment to health equity and dermatologic care made this possible: Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Eli Lilly and Company, L'Oréal, Cetaphil, Kenvue, CeraVe, La Roche-Posay, Avène, Black Girl Sunscreen, Galderma, Bubble, and many more.
We were honored to be joined by representatives from the National Psoriasis Foundation and National Eczema Association, strengthening our collaborative efforts in skin health awareness.
Stay tuned—this is just the beginning! We look forward to growing this movement and continuing our mission to educate, empower, and elevate communities through dermatologic health.
