What a year! The U.S. marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, and one of the country’s most celebrated roads observes its centennial in November. How to find the best RV spot by the beach |
As summer finally arrives, many RVers will be packing up to go find the perfect sandy spot to park on the beach so they can breathe in that salty air. But first . . . you need to find that perfect spot. These suggestions will help you locate sites at some of the best beaches in the country.
If you’re looking to visit the Outer Banks in North Carolina for beach time and some history with the Wright Brothers’ first flight, check out outerbanks.org. It includes a section in the Places to Stay section for RVers and campers. If you’re journeying a bit farther south to Hilton Head, South Carolina, outdoorsy.com is a handy source for finding RV parks and campgrounds. For another South Carolina staple, Myrtle Beach, one can go to visitmyrtlebeach.com; this site has a section dedicated to campgrounds RVers can enjoy — all with fantastic views.
If you’re planning a trip to one of the many Florida beaches, visit campflorida.com. This website features individual sections for every part of the Sunshine State. If you’re making a trip out west to California, check out camp-california.com.

New journeys, new adventures

Kevin and Patrice McCabe, hosts of the popular RV There Yet? travel series on Discovery Channel, will celebrate America’s 250th birthday during the upcoming season of their show. Ride along as the couple explores the highways and byways in a Winnebago motorhome decked out in red, white, and blue. They’re always up for adventures, detours, and campground fun! Season 5 debuts July 5 at 8:30 a.m. Eastern/Pacific time. The McCabes are no strangers to Family RV Association; they filmed a show at FRVA’s 2025 Perry, Georgia, convention.

There’s still time to register for Family RV Association’s 113th International Convention, July 1-4 at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia. A robust schedule includes seminars, special events, and exhibits to enhance the RV lifestyle. On July 4, we’ll celebrate America’s 250th with a picnic; at dusk, the fairgrounds will present a dazzling fireworks show. Continue the fun and sign up for the Midwest Area Rally, July 5-6, also at the fairgrounds.

Route 66 photo stops across Missouri
|
Planning to take the scenic route to Family RV Association’s 113th International Convention in Sedalia? Missouri’s 317-mile stretch of Route 66 offers plenty of reasons to slow down along the way. Even better, the Mother Road will celebrate its 100th anniversary on November 11, 2026, making this a great year to explore one of America’s most iconic highways.
Route 66 is home to some of Missouri’s most iconic attractions, from Gateway Arch National Park and Grant’s Farm to Meramec Caverns. All are worth exploring, but this list focuses on quick-stop photo ops, quirky roadside attractions, and classic Route 66 Americana that make the journey just as memorable as the destination. You’ll drive diagonally across the state, from northeast Missouri to the southwest corner.

For 100 years, drivers have hit the open road, chasing the American Dream along Route 66, which originally stretched about 2,400 miles from Chicago to Los Angeles. Route 66 forever changed how motorists travel and became a symbol of freedom and adventure. To observe the centennial of this historic road, the U.S. Postal Service has issued a set of eight commemorative stamps. Each depicts a site from the states through which the roadway runs: Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Check them out at store.usps.com/store/stamps.

U.S. Route 66 travels through eight states on its trek from Illinois to California. If you explore parts of this famous corridor or sites in the area, an FRVA-member campground may be nearby. Check the FRVA RV Marketplace for listings. In the meantime, here are three:
