Dear God, as we begin this Lenten journey, we seek to deepen our faith and commitment to Your will. Grant us the wisdom to fast from distractions and feast on Your Word. Help us to serve others with generosity and compassion.
As we strive to become servant leaders, inspire us to embody the motto of our university: "God Gives the Increase." May our efforts be fruitful in Your eyes, and may we always remember that true wisdom comes from You alone. Amen.

Education Students Showcase Science of Reading at Ohio Deans Compact Conference |
|
|
Walsh University education seniors Makenna Geiser and Tess Hallgren recently demonstrated their expertise in literacy instruction at the Ohio Deans Compact conference. Tess participated in a student-led panel, sharing insights on implementing the Science of Reading and how Walsh has prepared her to apply these principles in her student teaching and future classroom. Tess and Makenna also led a hands-on session, presenting a phonics lesson to conference attendees.
Prior to the conference, Dr. Lindsey Roush, Assistant Professor in the Division of Education, and the students were interviewed for an informational video on All Ohio Literacy, a series of Science of Reading-based modules used in Walsh’s education courses. Their participation reflects Walsh University’s leadership in this field—one of the first universities in Ohio to integrate the Science of Reading into its teacher preparation curriculum. As a state leader in this approach, Walsh continues to prepare future educators with research-based literacy strategies that are already making an impact in classrooms.

An Opportunity to Hear from the Hawthorne Dominican Sisters |
Walsh University is offering a unique opportunity to hear from the Hawthorne Dominican Sisters on Thursday, March 27, at 1:30 p.m. via Zoom. For 125 years, these sisters have dedicated their lives to serving the poor with incurable cancer in New York and Texas. Their mission of compassionate care began at a time when cancer was still believed to be contagious, yet they selflessly stepped forward to help those in need.
Hosted by Professor Sarah Bokovitz’s palliative care course in collaboration with Fr. Albert Trudel O.P., this event is open to the entire Walsh University community. Young women who may be exploring a religious vocation are also encouraged to attend. The Zoom link will be provided upon registration. This is a powerful opportunity to learn about faith, service, and the call to care for the most vulnerable. | Read More (PDF)
