JOE ROBINSON’S BORDERS HITS EMOTIONAL TOUCH POINTS FOR US ALL
Long-Distance Romance Takes On New Meaning with U.S./Canadian Border Closed

NASHVILLE – November 10, 2020 – As is the case with many highly artistic people during this pandemic lock-down, singer/songwriter Joe Robinson has utilized his time to write, record and produce an emotional new album, titled Borders. Borders will be released on all digital platforms November 20, and is the follow-up to his critically-acclaimed Undertones album released in early 2019.
Robinson, an Australian native who has recently become an American citizen, became engaged to his fiancé, an illustrator based in Canada, in October 2019. Although the couple knew they would continue to have a long-distance romance until her Visa came through and she could relocate to Nashville, neither anticipated the closure of the border between Canada and the United States because of the pandemic, completely eliminating any travel between their two homes.
“This is a collection of songs I wrote, some within the last year and some specifically about being separated from Genevieve during the pandemic - we haven’t seen each other in eight months now,” Robinson said. I just felt I had some heartfelt songs bubbling up, and I was sure there would be other people out there who can relate. Being separated from loved ones is something I have dealt with for 10 years, having moved to the US from Australia when I was 18. I left all of my family back in Australia, but this felt like a different situation since we became engaged over a year ago and are so excited to begin a life together.”

Robinson enlisted top musicians to help – drummer Nir Zidkyahu (John Mayer, Chris Cornell, Genesis); bassist Bernard Harris (Aaron Neville, Tommy Emmanuel, Mandisa); Irish violin and fiddle player Eamon McLoughlin (Rodney Crowell, The Greencards, Ashley Monroe); harmony vocalists Shannon LaBrie and Hannah Sutherland, and Robinson on lead vocals and guitars. “I chose friends of mine who are all great musicians in their own right, but who also have a musical spirit with which I feel connected,” Robinson adds.

In addition to time spent recording the new record, Robinson has been very available to his fans around the world playing live-from-home concerts on a regular basis, and streaming on YouTube and Facebook weekly, landing himself on Pollstar's Top 10 Weekly Livestreams chart alongside Norah Jones, Brent Cobb, Ricky Skaggs and The Circle TV's "Opry Live.” His next livestream will fall on November 21 and will stream on Facebook and YouTube. He'll be performing from The Blueroom Studios, alongside Zidkyahu and Harris. Additionally, since Robinson normally tours between 150-200 days a year internationally, he’s joined Patreon to give all of his fans access to private concerts and behind-the-scenes access to his creative process.  “I feel a deep responsibility to share my musical passion with as many people as I can. That ability has been extremely limited with the cancellation of my tour this year. It’s still important to me that I’m able to communicate with anyone who enjoys my music, and spread some joy at time when it feels more important than ever.”
