The nomination form for the 2025 University Commencement student speakers is now open! One undergraduate and one graduate/professional student will have the honor of delivering brief welcome remarks during Duke’s Commencement ceremony this May.

Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to nominate a graduating student for this opportunity—self-nominations are also welcome! Submissions are due by Friday, March 7.

We’re excited to invite nominations for the Julie Anne Levey Memorial Leadership Award, which honors a First-Year student who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and service to the Duke community. The award recognizes students who have shown initiative in co-curricular activities like house council, community service, or student advocacy groups. The winner(s) will receive a $5,000 scholarship (or two $2,500 scholarships) and will be invited to a brunch with past awardees and the Levey family.

Nominations are open to all faculty, staff, and students, and should focus on specific examples of the nominee’s leadership and impact. Nominees will also be asked to submit a personal statement. Submit your nomination by noon on Thursday, March 27th, 2025 here.
