Hello, Class of 2024! 

Welcome to the Countdown to Commencement Newsletter! This newsletter will provide you with pertinent information pertaining to Commencement throughout the semester. This newsletter is created by fellow Class of 2024 students in partnership with the Division of Student Affairs.  Please read the newsletter thoroughly and take any action as needed so you stay on top of everything you need to do to graduate. The goal of the newsletter is to communicate effectively and clearly, so please reach out to commencement@stevens.edu to ask any questions.

Follow The Class of 2024 Instagram account. The @stevensclassof2024 Instagram account will be providing timely updates on new developments as they unfold. Additionally, the Instagram will be home to polls and be the first point of contact for any student organizations looking to have any relevant events or information shout out. 

Check the Commencement website.  The Commencement website will be regularly updated to reflect new and current information about Commencement 2024.

Spring 2024 graduating students must apply for Program Completion by February 15. If your degree was not completed in Summer 2023 or Fall 2023 terms, you must apply for Program Completion. If you have not already applied for Program Completion, visit the Registrar’s MyHub for instructions. Failure to apply by this deadline will prevent you from inclusion in the Commencement book and will prevent your degree from being conferred. 

Your legal name as it appears in Workday will be used for official documents (transcripts, diplomas) from the Office of the Registrar. To review your legal name in Workday and make changes, use this Workday Guide.  If you would like your preferred name to appear in the Commencement Program instead of your legal name (legal names must be used on the diploma and transcript), you must submit our Preferred Name Commencement Book Request by March 1, 2024. 

Would you like to speak at your Commencement Ceremony? 

One graduating undergraduate student and one graduate student are chosen annually to deliver a brief inspirational speech at their respective Commencement Ceremony. In order to apply, you must have met all requirements for graduation, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5/4.0, be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University, and have significant involvement in at least two co-curricular activities. Applications are due by 5 p.m. EST Friday, March 1, 2024! For more information on speech guidelines and the application and selection process, please visit the Student Commencement Speakers Page on the Commencement Website. 

Graduate students who need assistance applying for Spring 2024 Program Completion are invited to attend Road to Graduation for Graduate Students. Join the Office of The Registrar, International Student and Scholar Services, Graduate Academics, Graduate Student Life, and the Office of Alumni Engagement on Monday, February 12 from 12-3 pm in the UCC Tech Flex to learn more about how to complete your Stevens Degree. Graduate students only.

The Senior Week Advisory Committee, in partnership with Divisions of Student Affairs and Development and Alumni Engagement, invites you to register for 100 Days 'Till Graduation. Join us for an afternoon of celebration, including appetizers, speakers, and a champagne toast to the final 100 days of your Stevens undergraduate experience.  The event takes place on Wednesday, February 14 from 3-5 pm in the UCC Tech Flex.  Undergraduates only.  

The Link: Stevens Yearbook, is hosting senior portraits for undergraduate students who will be graduating in Spring 2024. Thornton Studios will be on campus from February 19-23, 2024 and April 15-18, 2024 in the Bissinger Room located on the 4th floor of the Howe Center. Each student will have photos taken in business attire in addition to a graduation gown and academic hood (provided at the session). Students will receive an email from Thornton Studios about 2 weeks after their sitting. Please schedule your portrait sitting online by going to www.thorntonstudio.com and using the school code 02639. There is a $5 sitting fee. Any student who had a photo taken on campus between October 30 and November 3, 2023 may schedule a retake at no cost.  If you have trouble scheduling your appointment online, you can call 800-883-9449.
