The school newsletter is sent out on Mondays. When there is a holiday, the newsletter is sent the following day.

Quite a few things are blowing in the wind at the corner of Garden and 15th. - Goblins and ghouls will be out in full force on Friday night. I’m excited to attend my first Elysian Halloween party.
- Elysian Basketball teams are forming now. If you would like your Elysian 3-8th grader to participate, send in the form ASAP. Try outs are on the following day/time:
10/24 Wednesday
Grade 3 – 3-4pm
Grade 4 – 4-5pm
Grade 5 – 5-6pm
All other grades will be next week – 10/29. - The cold weather is on its way like it or not. It’s imperative to dress your learner accordingly. We will go outside for recess unless it’s bitter cold or icy. Layers, gloves and a warm hat always help.
- We have reached out many times for your support of Elysian. If you haven’t sent in an email or participated in the NJ DOE written survey in support of Elysian – please do. We have no way of predicting what the outcome of the town hall meetings will be or what changes will be forthcoming. We do know if you don’t speak up NOW we will not have the chance to share the ways that Elysian makes a difference again. Visit the Charter Outreach webpage to engage and provide feedback.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Trivia Night fundraiser thus far! We currently have 11 tickets remaining (one complete team of six plus a few open spots on other teams). If you haven’t yet registered for this fun event, make sure to do so soon!

Trivia Night Fundraiser Ticket Info:
• Tickets are for Elysian parents only through Friday, October 26, after which, if any tickets are unsold, sales will be opened to non-Elysian friends, extended family, and the public.
• No tickets will be sold at the door since teams need to be set up in advance.
• Each team will be made up of six (6) members, but you can buy any number of tickets. Creating Teams:
You can put together a full team of six members yourself, either buying the tickets in one purchase or, if the tickets are bought separately, utilizing the registration form (or emailing us at friends@ecsnj.org) to list your team’s players.
You can also include less than six names, too, and we’ll add others to your team to round it out. Deadline for emailing all team preferences is Friday, November 2.
Teams will be created for everyone who buys a ticket. (In other words, you don’t need to come with your own six-member team. We’ll put people together.) We will do our best to accommodate team requests, but as it is first come, first served, please let your team members know that their spots are not guaranteed until payment is received.

PTSO Corner
Halloween Party
The Elysian Halloween Party is THIS Friday, October 26, from 6:30-8:30 pm...
Be there (the Gym) or be scared! We'll have the Doughnut Tree, Haunted House, Costume Contest, Games, DJ and more! BUT, we need volunteers and donations to make it all happen.

PTSO Dues
Did you know that your dues go toward funding the free Halloween Party, as well as the many free or low-cost events that the PTSO puts on every year?
PTSO dues envelopes have been sent home, but if you did not receive one, please email elysianptso@gmail.com or send in your donation in a regular envelope, with your contact information on the outside.
To help fund the PTSO, we are suggesting all families contribute $25 per child in dues. Please return the envelope with cash or check made out to Elysian PTSO to the main office. PayPal is still not accepting payments, so at this time we are suggesting sending your donation in an envelope to the office. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

Fun and Yummy Fundraising
Happy Halloween everyone! This year’s Halloween party is going to be spectacular! To add to the awesomeness, the 7th and 8th graders are going to be selling EMPANADAS. Who doesn’t love empanadas? We’ll also be having a bake sale at the same stand, and there will be Halloween face painting. Shout out to La Casa in Hoboken on Newark street for being our empanada supplier and generously donating the empanadas.

ECS Basketball Participation Forms Due ASAP
Basketball Registration forms for grades 3 - 8 are due back now for this year's basketball registration.
Hoboken Recreation must know how many children wish to participate so that they can create teams by the end of the month.
In order to do this, we must have your child's form back asap.
Please be advised - Elysian requires all the following documentation to participate:
-Hoboken recreation registration - $25 -
-Completed current physical form
-Parents must sign off on the "Student-Athletic and Parent/Guardian Sign-Off" Form.
Games start in early January. You will be notified as to when ECS practices will begin.

| A note about attendance: The New Jersey State Law is very specific about school attendance. By law, children are expected to be in school every day unless they are ill. There is no room in the law or regulations to excuse any children who have prior plans. We must mark all children absent who are not in attendance.
