Revelation 17:14

They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”
New International Version (NIV)
War remains in the news.  After World War II, a “war to end all wars", many hoped there would be no more war.  Still the stories from Aleppo, Syria remind us that war is ever-present.  Revelation tells us about a war against the Lamb.  Has that war already begun?  When we see Christians decimated and forced out of their countries, we see a war against Christ and his people.
Who is the woman in Revelation 17?  John implies she is the city of Rome situated on seven hills conducting business with all the nations of the ancient world.   Kings rise and fall in John’s vision.  In the end he envisions ten kings, in service of evil, who do battle against the Lamb.  Some see these as ancient kings.  Others seen them as future kings.  One thing is certain:  only one King wins the war.
Jesus told his followers that there would be wars and rumors of wars.  History proves he was right.  In the war to end all wars, we want to be on the same team as the Lamb who is Lord of lords and King of kings.  In the battle for good, Jesus is not alone.  “With him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”  Is that you?  Is that I?  Are we with him?  He is with us.  Everyone is choosing to follow somebody today.  Let us be sure we follow Christ.  He is the only Ruler who definitely, unequivocally, irrevocably wins, in the end.  “Who is on the Lord’s side?”
Pray with me:
Father, in this season give us hearts to receive your peace and make peace with others.  Let your goodness draw us closer to you in a world bent on evil.  Help those who are running for their lives today.  Please bring your peace.  Bring it soon.  We cannot live without you.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
