Updated pool schedule, upcoming events, October group fitness highlights...


Our FULL slate of aquatic offerings including group lessons (ages 6 months-12 years), private lessons (age 5-adults of any age), Barracuda Swim Team (ages 7-17), and Masters Swim Team (ages 18+) are back here at the YMCA! Thank you for your patience while we hired, trained, and refreshed many new and returning staff team members to make this possible. Please carefully review the information on our website for the upcoming 8-week session that begins Monday, October 18th.

All instructors are fully vaccinated against COVID19 and will mask and maintain distance from swimmers to the extent possible.

Group lessons will operate with a smaller number of participants to allow for distancing of swimmers.

October 5th, 5:30 to 6:30pm: Family Time: Active and Fun! This class is intended to help encourage everyone in the family to be active, and ways to find healthy meals and snacks that everyone in the family can enjoy! October 12th, 5:30 to 6:30pm: MyPlate Family Meals! This class is for promoting healthy food shopping with the whole family involved, as well as ways to get everyone in the family to eat more fruits and veggies! October 19th, 5:30 to 6:30pm: Reach Your Goals, Step by Step! This class for older adults explores setting goals for eating more fruits and vegetables and how to be more physically active, as well as how to overcome challenges to both. October 23 4:30pm-8:30pm: Free Family Trunk or Treat Event 

October 26th, 5:30 to 6:30pm: Eat Smart, Spend Less
This class is for older adults and digs into how to increase fruits and vegetables in your favorite food dishes, as well as how to spend less money on your grocery bill while getting tasty produce! Stop by to learn about local resources for free or lower cost produce as well!

October 28 @ 6pm-7pm in Nutrition Center: Energy Literacy Workshop by Get Your GreenBack Tompkins
Some classes are fee based and require advance registration such as Octagon and AMPD Strong: Kettlebell. Spaces will fill quickly! Registration is open for these classes. We strongly encourage advance registration for all aquatic group fitness classes. 


Don't get stuck in a rut by doing the same old exercises you've always done. Try one of our great new or returning offerings like these challenging, exciting options:
- SpinYasa with Linda A: Mondays 5:00PM-6:30PM
45 min of cycling to pump you up followed by 45 mins of Vinyasa yoga to bring you to a deep state of relaxation. Designed as a 2-in-1 experience but also open to participants who want to do one half or the other.
- Yoga HIIT with Symphony: Tuesdays 5:00PM-6:00PM
Combines high intensity interval training with yoga in-between the activities to lengthen and strengthen.
- Strong Nation with Carol: Fridays 5:00PM-6:00PM
Body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio, kickboxing, and plyometric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every move. Every squat, lunge, burpee is music driven to help you make it to the last rep or maybe even five more! Mat recommended.
- Tai Chi with John: Tuesdays 7:00PM-7:55PM
Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion.                       
- Gentle Water with Linda M: Thursdays 10:00AM-10:45AM
A shallow-water workout for those with arthritis or other joint issues, just starting to exercise, or looking for a  gentler workout. We’ll use low-impact movements and gentle stretching. Water weights and noodles used for strengthening.
- Women and Weights with Symphony: Thursdays 4:15PM-5:15PM
Female-focused, instructor guided lifting class. Great for lifting pros and those that are just starting out. Build your strength in a safe, supportive environment.
- Pilates with Sheila: Mondays 5:30PM-6:30PM
Pilates generally includes exercises that promote core strength and stability, muscle control, and endurance, including exercises that stress proper posture and movement patterns and balanced flexibility and strength. It can also be helpful in training for sports or in physical rehabilitation.
