The requirement to wear a mask while indoors on campus will remain in effect for the time being. The state's mask mandate for businesses and most other public indoor spaces is set to expire overnight, but SUNY has directed that individual campuses can implement additional health and safety requirements at our discretion.
Masks will still be required for everyone (regardless of vaccination status) while indoors on campus to help keep our classes running as scheduled and continue to lessen the impact of COVID-19 at the college. We also encourage campus community members to continue wearing masks off campus, especially in crowded settings. Our mask requirements and guidance are listed in the "Masking & Distancing" section of the COVID-19 webpage. Please also note that, according to Gov. Hochul's press conference today, masks are still required on public transportation like the Oneonta Public Transit buses.
Everyone's cooperation with masking, testing and boosting has helped us start the semester very strong – our 14-day positivity rate is less than 1 percent, and there is currently only one student in isolation. The COVID Response Team will continue to evaluate our mask guidance, especially once the weather begins to change toward spring, and will announce any changes via email.
Thank you for continuing to wear masks indoors on campus and for your understanding as we follow precautions that will help ensure we have a safe and successful semester.
