Announcing the Office of Alumni and Career Connections

Walsh University is transforming how we prepare students to enter the workforce confidently and be ready for the jobs of tomorrow by bridging students to Walsh’s alumni network, the greater community, and internal resources to help students discover their life purpose and forge a successful career. The newly established Office of Alumni and Career Connections leverages the power of the alumni network, employer engagement, and community partners and connects these resources to students early in their matriculation so that they can begin to build their personal career network and activate their degrees. Excitement is Building Around 2023 Commencement In less than two weeks, Walsh University will confer degrees to 638 graduating students who will join the growing network of Walsh Alumni. The Commencement Ceremonies on Saturday, May 6, will be held in the Cecchini Health and Wellness Complex, Alumni Arena and livestreamed to the public.
Graduates from the DeVille School of Business and School of Behavioral & Health Sciences can expect a morning arrival time, while graduates from the Byers School of Nursing, Division of Education and School of Arts and Sciences will walk in the afternoon. All graduates should arrive dressed in cap and gown one hour before your respective ceremony.

Hannah Brown Named Head Coach for Women’s Soccer
| |
Hannah Brown has been named Head Coach for the Walsh University Cavaliers women’s soccer program. Brown, who served as Head Coach for the 2022 season at Mount Union, led the Raiders to the OAC Tournament, had two OAC All-Conference players and 11 OAC All-Academic Athletes. Prior to Mount Union, she spent 12 years at University of California, Merced, where she was an Assistant Coach from 2012-2017 and Head Coach from 2017-2021. As Head Coach, she made the California Pacific (Cal Pac) Conference tournament in all five seasons and was runner up four out of five times. Brown played collegiately at Ashland University before earning a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from The University of Akron in 2011 and a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Fresno State in 2013.

April Cyber Byte: Securing Your Password
Having a long mix of upper- and lower-case letters, symbols and numbers is the best way to make your password more secure. A 12-character password containing at least one upper case letter, one symbol and one number would take 34,000 years for a computer to crack.

Beginning June 1, all Walsh University users will be required to change their passwords to 12 characters.

Ben Walther, Director of Campus Ministry, recently met the niece of Brother James Lacasse in Nashville. Brother James was beloved on campus and dedicated 30 years of his life to building excellence at Walsh.

The Office of Student Activities and Sodexo are excited to be bringing back Late-Night Breakfast on Tuesday, May 2, from 9 – 10:30 p.m. in the Schervish Dining Center. The menu will consist of scrambled eggs, sausage patties, French toast sticks, tater tots, fruit, donuts, pastries, coffee, milk and juice. Residential students will use their meal swipes and free tickets will be available for Commuters at the door. Please RSVP here!

On the men’s team: Blas Ruiz, 2nd Team; Philip Carstensen, 1st Team and GMAC Freshman of the Year; Luis Hernandez 2nd Team. On the women’s team: Chiara Wolff, Elite 26 Winner; Alexa Gamborino, 1st Team; Risako Umekuni, 1st Team; and Shantala Uzcategui, 2nd Team.

Dr. Nina Rytwinski, Dr. Jennifer Clevinger and Dr. Amy Heston traveled with Honors students Myla Demko, Franny Sberna, and Rebecca Tsai to Indianapolis for the Mid-Eastern Honors Association’s Annual Conference. The students presented their Senior Honors Theses. Fanny and Myla presented posters, Rebecca presented a book that she wrote, and Dr. Clevinger and Dr. Rytwinski led a faculty panel discussion.
