Woodburn farmworker, mom released from ICE custody after 8 months
“A federal judge in Seattle ordered the immediate release of Marta Escalante Perez, an Oregon mother of two who was seized by DHS agents during a harvest-season detention of Woodburn blueberry pickers last year. Attorneys from Innovation Law Lab, working with law students from Lewis & Clark Law School, filed the petition for habeas corpus in Seattle. The law students participated through a special immigration law class in which they learned how to file habeas corpus petitions for people who have been wrongfully detained by the federal government.”
