Religious Education - Children and Youth

Nursery
Childcare for children between 6 months and 3 years is available in the nursery.

In-person Children’s RE (grades 4K-6)
Children in this class meet in the Anthony Room before 10:00 to check in and then move class outside, weather permitting. Our summer children’s experience is about engaging minds and bodies in less formal learning, and connecting more deeply to nature and the outdoors. Our focus is on providing our children and their families with rich opportunities to connect to their deepest inner lives, their community, and to the joy of life around them by service to others.
•  Service to Others
•  Silence and Mindfulness
•  Sunshine and Movement
Teachers and students in the elementary RE class will need to continue masking and practice social distancing as much as possible.
Please contact director of religious education Kim Hartman for more information.

Our Whole Lives Update- OWLs is on for the fall!

We are thrilled to announce that OWLs 8-9 will be offered this fall! We have been adding names to our class roster throughout the summer, and have room for more. Please contact Kim Hartman by August 26 to confirm that you are interested in enrolling your child. We will be capping the class at 20 participants.

OWLs will be held from 6:30-8:30 PM on the first and third Wednesday evenings of each month starting in September.

Our Whole Lives is a comprehensive sexuality program that helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. It equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information in six subject areas: human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society and culture. Grounded in a holistic view of sexuality, Our Whole Lives not only provides facts about anatomy and human development, but also helps participants clarify their values, build interpersonal skills, and understand the spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of sexuality.

More information about the OWLs program can be found at http://www.uua.org/re/owl

Caring for Yourself When You Care for Others

with Care Team member Chris Wales
Caring for others can be powerful, purposeful, life-giving, and life-changing!  When you give so much to others, it is critical and necessary to care for yourself in order to give the best of yourself to those you care for.  Please join me on Wednesday, August 17th at 7:00 pm at the Fellowship for a Fireside Chat where we'll discuss the intentional work of caring for ourselves as we navigate the day-to-day journey of building a better world, one life at a time.

Many Hands Make Light Work…

Thank you John Duffin, George Geiser, Roger Kanitz, Anne Sieck, and Dave Roisum for braving the weather on Wednesday morning to help our landscaping contractor spread mulch around all the garden nooks at the Fellowship. And many thanks to Margaret Alexander and Jan McHugh from the Landscape Committee, and Pat Costello from the Men’s group for joining the people above to prep the areas prior to the mulch arriving. Well done!

Green Sanctuary shares opportunities in Fellowship Hall after Sunday service

Please stop by the Green Sanctuary Team’s table in the Fellowship Hall on August 7 and 14 to hear about two opportunities for participation by Fellowship members. The first is to register for the September 16 Menominee Way Day tour, an all-day event 10-3:30 to learn Menominee sustainable ways that can be applied across ecosystems and cultures. It includes a visit to the Sustainable Development Institute, Logging Museum, and Heritage Museum on the Menominee Reservation in Keshena, WI. Secondly, we are collecting signatures on a petition to show support for the local Brothertown Indian Nation’s request to be reinstated as a federally recognized tribe. These types of activities are how we as a Fellowship work in the wider community to establish deeper relationships with our Indigenous neighbors, which is part of the charter that the UUA asks of us as a Green Sanctuary Congregation.

The Justice Hub is on summer hiatus but the need for justice is not. Keep fighting the good fight justice warriors!
