Late this afternoon, the Department of Campus Safety received a report from the NYPD of an aggravated assault that occurred early in the morning on May 30th, 2024 in front of 27 Waverly Place (between University Pl. and Greene St.), in Manhattan.
The report indicates that an individual, a non-NYU affiliate, was struck in the head with a pipe, approximately 20 to 30 inches in length. The assailant was then seen fleeing northbound on University Place. The report also notes that the victim suffered a laceration to their head that required stitches.
Description of Reported Offender: The suspect was described as male-presenting, approximately 5'10", with an average build and dark complexion, wearing a dark blue baseball cap, a black jacket, blue jeans, and grey sneakers.
