AMPC Research Symposium Interest Meeting
GW American Medical Physiology Club | September 17th, 6:00 PM
Calling All Pre-Health Students! Join Us for our Fifth Annual AMPC Research Symposium!
The AMPC Research Symposium at GWU is a unique opportunity for students interested in STEM, public health, healthcare, and biological and chemical sciences to become involved in scientific research during their undergraduate careers. Following an application process, students are selected and matched with researchers from multiple institutions, including GW's own CCAS, Milken, SMHS, and SEAS, as well as Children's National Hospital, GW Medical Faculty Associates, and the NIH!
Throughout the year, researchers serve as mentors for students as they assist with research work and contribute to valuable scientific projects. The program concludes with students' formal presentation of their research at our Symposium event in the Spring. Any students interested in the program should attend our Interest Meeting on September 17th at 6:00 PM in the USC Amphitheater! American Medical Physiology Club
Hello GW Pre-Med!
We are the American Medical Physiology Club, the largest pre-health organization on campus. Although we mainly focus on careers in health professions, we are open to all undergraduate students! We are so excited for all of you to be entering GW and starting your journey to pursuing a health career.
Our programs include a Research Symposium, Mentorship, Community Service & Volunteering, Pre-Professional panels and workshops, Academic Support for pre-health classes like organic chemistry, MCAT resources, and much more!
Our first general body meeting is on September 10th from 6-8PM in USC 309, where we will have speakers in nursing, medicine, dentistry, and other pre-health fields debate and discuss the pros and cons of each field, and what to expect over the next few years. We will also be introducing our members and how to utilize all our resources to the fullest. We are hosting a bake sale in Kogan Plaza on September 5th from 12-4PM as well, if you would like to swing by and meet our members earlier.

Future Leaders in Surgery Symposium for Underrepresented Students (FLXSUS)
October - November 2024 | Virtual/In-Person
The Future Leaders in Surgery Symposium for Underrepresented Students (FLXSUS) is a virtual series designed to bridge the gap between underrepresented undergraduates and surgical fields. Each symposium offers comprehensive exposure to specialties such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, otolaryngology, and plastic surgery.
High school and undergraduate students are highly encouraged to attend. Attendees will have access to extraordinary surgical cases, mentorship from attending faculty, residents, and medical students, and insights into groundbreaking research from renowned leaders. Participants will also receive a certificate and have the opportunity to connect with physicians and peers.

Dana Foundation Virtual Career Fair in Neuroscience and Society
This event will feature professionals discussing interdisciplinary fields related to neuroscience, including but not limited to neurolaw, neuroeconomics, neuromarketing, neuroethics, and neuroscience and public health.
Date and Time: September 9-12, 2024 from 7-9 pm Eastern on Zoom
Format: The first hour of each night will feature 3-5 speakers providing a brief introduction to their work and career trajectory. This will be followed by open discussion and in the second hour, breakout room networking opportunities for students.

GW's Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medicine Program Information Session
September 24th, 5:00pm - 6:00pm | Online
Learn more about the GW Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medicine Certificate Program for career changers who possess a bachelor's degree but lack the prerequisite science courses necessary to apply to medical, dental, or PA school. Our 11-month program begins each May and provides students with the courses needed to apply to medical, dental, or PA school, along with personalized advising to assist students in their applications. The program is augmented with a MCAT/GRE preparation course, a Current Topics in Healthcare Seminar, as well as opportunities to gain clinical and/or research experience. Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship
Currently accepting applications until September 13th, 2024. Scholarships will be awarded to students in medical, dental, health policy, pharmacy, public health, physician assistant, and nursing (BSN and above) programs. We kindly ask you to share this opportunity with eligible students. This year, our scholarship program includes awards of $5,000 annually for up to four years, along with individual scholarships of $2,000.

iCHARM Lab at the George Washington School of Nursing
“Digital Health Communications in Cancer Prevention Among Minority Young Adults” study, under the direction of Dr. Daisy Le at the George Washington University (GWU) School of Nursing
We are interested in learning about cancer prevention knowledge and behavior, as well as the usage of online platforms, social media, and mHealth for obtaining health and/or cancer-related information.
We are looking for participants who are young adults between 18-40 years old, self-identify with an underrepresented racial/ethnic minority community, can communicate in English, and are current U.S. residents. Participants will complete an eligibility screening by visiting the link https://is.gd/digicomm. Once completed, a research team member will follow up via email and invite the participant to complete: a 15-minute online survey, for which they will receive a $5 Amazon e-gift card.

The Behavioral Diabetes Research Team (led by Randi Streisand, Ph.D.) is looking for undergraduate students with an interest in health and/or child psychology to assist with on-going projects conducted through Children’s National Hospital. Studies explore well-being, resilience, adherence, and child/parental adjustment to type 1 diabetes. We are looking for undergraduates who can dedicate 5-10 hours per week to this position, with at least 4 of those hours in-person at the Main Campus.
