| 2023: Hey, Louisiana!YOU BELONG IN STEM
| |
We all belong in STEM
Who belongs (or who thinks they don't belong) in STEM learning and careers must change! The U.S. Department of Education's YOU Belong in STEM campaign (“Raise the Bar: STEM Excellence for All Students” initiative) prompts us to recognize the many girl/young women-focused initiatives hosted by Louisiana organizations and businesses. Let's strengthen our commitment to recognize, implement, and scale equitable, high-quality STEM education to ensure that girls and young women know, without hesitation, that they have a place in Louisiana STEM careers. *Featured in image above - Daphine Barnes, Region 1 STEM Network Center @ GNO, Inc, as well as founder of the WISE Women initiative.

Building a Sense of Belonging in STEM
"Can you imagine a class where students have uninterrupted time to play, dream and create with their peers? Giving students the room to be curious and imaginative is fundamental to building what former math and science teacher Christopher Emdin calls a dream culture." Emdin’s book “STEM, STEAM, Make, Dream” outlines how teachers can make STEM education more inclusive, support students in reimagining their relationship to STEM subjects and help their learners become better dreamers.
