What a day that will be! Joel predicted the day of the Lord. He called upon the people to repent and the priests to weep over the sin of the people. He promised that God would restore the years the locusts had eaten. He envisioned a day when God would pour out his Spirit so that sons and daughters would prophesy, old men would dream dreams and young men would see visions.
When will this happen? At Pentecost, Peter chose this as his text to preach after the Holy Spirit was poured out on men and women. “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak” (Acts 2:4). Then he said, “This is what was spoken by the prophet Joel.” That day 3000 people repented, were baptized, and were added to the church.
When will this happen? It has already begun. We live in the now, but not yet Kingdom. To this day, everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. Recently, one of our church members invited his restaurant server to come to Tallowood. He and his wife called on the name of the Lord and followed him in baptism. So don’t wait for some future event to speak up for God. Men and women, young and old, speak up.
