Dear UCSB Affiliates,

Fall has arrived in Santa Barbara, marking the beginning of a new academic year at UCSB! Our beachside campus is once again buzzing with the energy of students, faculty, and staff mingling and gearing up for the year ahead. The UCSB Affiliates are excited to welcome everyone back and will be kicking off the school year with a slate of fun, community-centered events.

Tonight is the first Profs at the Pub of the season! Unlock your curiosity and join us rain or shine for the Science Behind Wonder presented by Dr. Madeleine Gross. Dr. Gross, a psychological researcher at UC Santa Barbara, has been researching practical strategies to help adults boost their capacity to make ordinary experiences more curiosity-provoking. She will discuss the four core principles behind her approach and explore how small shifts in mindset, attention, and perspective can make the mundane feel a bit more magical.
