Water update: Sprinklers off, savings up! | |
|
|
Reminder: Lawn watering ended on Oct. 1 |
In line with Denver Water's decision on Aug. 26, lawn watering in Arvada is no longer allowed as of Oct. 1. Lawn watering includes any type of irrigation, sprinkler, or hose watering. Stage 1 watering restrictions will continue, which allow for watering trees, shrubs, veggie gardens, and flower beds by hand, as long as you water before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m.
Some watering will continue past Oct. 1 at high-use public spaces like golf courses and athletic fields with a limited water budget. Visit the Drought webpage to find what's allowed.

Why will the City continue limited watering past Oct. 1? |
For most City parks, Oct. 1 marked the end of irrigation season— just as it does in a typical year. Athletic complexes and some high-traffic parks that continue hosting organized activities will receive limited irrigation into October.
In the latest episode of the Inside Arvada podcast, Parks Manager Steve Gustafson explains why these areas require different care and how the Parks Department has managed water use throughout this year's drought. Listen on Spotify, Apple, or stream from the Inside Arvada webpage.

Thanks to you, we hit our 20% water saving goal in September! |
Wetter weather, some cooler temperatures, and your willingness to put up with some brown grass helped us collectively reduce water use by 20% this past month! That's compared to our 5-year average September water use. Well done, Arvada! Thank you for doing your part through the ongoing drought.
Check out the Water Use and Supply Updates webpage for a monthly overview and to track day-to-day water use over September.

Council will have to decide whether to enact an expedited development review process when at least 50% of proposed units are income-limited. See what projects would be affected and which would not be affected on the City's Prop123 webpage.
