We hope you are having a restful and rejuvenating summer. Thank you again for all of your work and ongoing participation in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work within our community.
As we look towards the coming academic year, we want to acknowledge the tremendous efforts that have been made by NYU Silver students, faculty, and staff over the past few years. Initiatives such as the Antiracist Pedagogy program for faculty, the Antiracism Seminar for incoming BS, MSW, and Doctoral students, and this summer’s “Days of Learning” for staff serve as models of engagement and community building for the rest of the University.
The DEI stakeholder sessions recently convened are another mark of progress, and we want to remind you that you can access the
DEI Stakeholder resource folder, which was shared by Richeleen Dashield, Silver’s Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, before and after each of the three stakeholder meetings (5/24, 6/22, and 7/14). It includes DEI Stakeholder agendas, surveys, minutes, participants, breakout room notes, historical DEI documents, and DEI resources. All of the DEI initial stakeholder meetings have been recorded and shared with the community and are available in the respective meeting minutes in the folder. Please let Richeleen know if any additional information is needed.
As you may know, the School and the NYU Office of Global Inclusion (OGI) worked together to support the stakeholder process, and we want to assure you that we will continue to collaborate very closely to advance the important work of Global Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Access, and Belonging (GDEIAB). Beginning this fall, we will engage in a new, even more robust level of partnership that will build on and scale up our work.
As part of the overarching GDEIAB Strategic Planning process at NYU, OGI will work with the NYU Silver community to establish a workgroup comprising broad representation of stakeholders to help align sustainable strategies and initiatives for the future. We hope to convene an initial GDEIAB session at Silver this Fall and will be providing more specifics on how to participate in the coming weeks. Please note that we want to be sure that all of the School’s excellent work to date
—the stakeholder process in particular
—is represented as we plan together for the 2021-2022 academic year.
Thank you in advance for your continued partnership and engagement, and we look forward to working with you.
