Dear LMU Staff Colleagues,
On Tuesday, Sept. 30, SEIU Local 721 - a union organization that has no standing at LMU - announced a call for a strike on campus. While the timing remains uncertain, the university has plans in place to ensure that campus operations and student learning continue with minimal disruption.
Please see the letter from Interim Executive Vice President and Provost Weaver to faculty today, which reaffirms LMU’s commitment to academic excellence, student success, and freedom of expression.
I take this opportunity to emphasize the vital role staff play in upholding the continuity of our campus operations and the success of our students. Your contributions are essential to providing uninterrupted access to the resources that support teaching, learning, and scholarship. In an effort to support the continuity of student learning and provide ongoing campus operational support, should a strike take place, staff are expected to report to work as scheduled and carry out their assigned responsibilities. If you have any questions about your work schedule or responsibilities, please contact your supervisor or Human Resources.
We will share additional guidance soon regarding LMU’s academic continuity plan, including resources and information to help staff in their ongoing support of our students and campus operations. Updates will also be posted on The Path Forward website.
With appreciation,
Nancy
Vice President for Human Resources
