His friend, who moved here from New York explained, "In my hometown, many people believe in God, but if you say you believe in Jesus Christ, people treat you like you think you have an imaginary friend. In our day, many do not believe in Jesus as an historic person, despite overwhelming evidence that he lived. Many others who dabble in religion attempt to redefine who God and Jesus are by saying, "I believe in a God who..."
The ancient city of Colosse had many who wanted to define Jesus as just one in a series of aeons who emanated from God. In their view, Jesus was not really God, but perhaps he had come from God. In his letter Paul explains who Jesus is in unequivocal terms. Jesus is God. Jesus is the Creator who created us for himself. Jesus is the head of the church. Jesus was the fullness of God who came to make peace through his blood on the cross."
Who is Jesus Christ to you? My friends came to worship one Sunday morning right after their discussion about Jesus. There one of our pastors preached and started by asking, "Who is Jesus Christ to you?" In a stirring sermon, Joshua Barrett explained who Jesus is.
