With St. Patrick’s Day coming up, we decided to do a story on Creighton University’s Irish heritage via its founding family. In the process, we learned that the family we’re named after wasn’t even named Creighton. At least not originally.

In 1987, former President Jimmy Carter came to Creighton for multiple campus events, one in the Kiewit Fitness Center, and was awarded an honorary degree by the then Creighton President the Rev. Michael Morrison, SJ.
