VNATA 2020 attendees have the opportunity to hear from NATA presidential candidates Kathy Dieringer, EdD, LAT, ATC, and Katie Walsh Flanagan, EdD, LAT, ATC, during VNATA 2020. The candidates will participate in a Q&A during the EDAC Town Hall from 5 to 7 p.m. CDT July 13. Also, during Face Time ’20, each candidate will present their presidential platforms and answer questions previously submitted to NATA. Tune in at 10:15 a.m. CDT July 15.

Volunteer to Review NATA 2021 Proposals
Volunteers are needed to review proposals for the 72nd NATA Clinical Symposia & AT Expo. This role is vital to ensure the quality and relevance of the convention educational programming to members. Last year, NATA received almost 300 proposals needing review. Each volunteer will review 10 to 20 proposals between Aug. 1-15. Proposal reviewers must be certified ATs.

Apply for USBJI's Young Investigator Initiative
The U.S. Bone and Joint Initiative is dedicated to raising public awareness and to increasing research of musculoskeletal diseases in the United States. The USBJI and Bone and Joint Canada offer a program with grant mentoring workshops to provide early-career basic and clinical investigators an opportunity to work with experienced researchers in the field to assist them in securing funding and other survival skills required for pursuing an academic career. This grant mentoring and career development program is open to promising junior faculty, senior fellows or post-doctoral researchers nominated by their department or division chairs. It is also open to senior fellows or residents who are conducting research and have a faculty appointment in place or confirmed and have a commitment to protected time for research. Basic and clinical investigators, with or without training awards (including K awards), are invited to apply. Applications are due July 15.

Call for Executive Council for Education Chair
The call for the Executive Council for Education Chair is now open. The mission of the ECE is to inform and assist the profession in setting the direction for athletic training education. Emphasizing a commitment to improving patient care through an evidence-based approach, the ECE proactively influences best educational practices that reflect athletic training’s interprofessional nature and commitment to learning. The ECE is charged with developing direction and policy for NATA’s educational programs. The incoming chair selected will fulfill this role starting in June 2021.
