Summer Re-JEW-venation
Judaism encourages us to have a strong yet healthy work ethic. Humans can live up to their divine image when they create, repair, think and otherwise contribute to a society. Judaism also encourages us to have a disciplined yet healthy rest ethic. Of course, Shabbat is the poster child for a time to recharge our physical and spiritual batteries, and shift our focus from our electronics to our family and friends. Can this Jewish wisdom help us plan productive and restful summer activities?

Thank You for Making Israel@70 an Incredible Success
The rain couldn’t dampen our community’s passion for Israel. This past Sunday, June 3, more than 2,000 community members gathered at Federation's Israel@70: A Musical Celebration to celebrate Israel’s culture, music and contributions over the past 70 years. From exciting Israeli musical acts to family-friendly art projects to enticing giveaways, it was truly amazing to see the excitement and enthusiasm of our own Greater Washington Jewish community. Relive the fun through our Facebook Live videos from the party.

Raise a Mensch with Federation’s Doing Good Guides
Repairing the world and caring for one another is a Jewish value, but it’s not always easy to know how to raise kind, empathetic and generous children. To help, The Jewish Federation and PJ Library® have created a series of Doing Good Guides, a growing collection of hands-on toolkits for parents to practice Jewish values with their kids. Each guide focuses on one Jewish value, with definitions, framing discussion questions, hands-on activities and tips to reflect on these values as a family.

Rocking the Red at Federation’s Annual Meeting
Hundreds of community members gathered last night at Sixth & I for our special Caps-themed Annual Meeting, just blocks from the excitement at Capital One Arena! As we rocked the red for our home team, we honored our 2018 award winners and celebrated our achievements, partnerships and vision for the future. The fun was capped off with an inspiring keynote by Dr. Elana Stein Hain of the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America. Join us in wishing a hearty mazel tov to our Federation award winners, an extraordinary group of MVPs who have made a tremendous impact for our community: Catherine Zacks Gildenhorn, Rachael Pazornick, Rabbi Shira Stutman and Rachel & Peter Federowicz;. We are so grateful for all you do!
