Hi Neighbor!
“Do one thing that scares you every day.”
Eleanor Roosevelt’s famous quote is my new mantra. Fear can stop us in our tracks or push us along. It makes our decisions for us whether that’s good or bad. Being fearless doesn’t mean “lack of fear.” It means not letting something that frightens us, deter us from trying something new.
A few years ago, I was lucky enough to visit New Zealand and go bungie jumping. Shaking in my shoes and crying, I jumped off a cliff, plunged through the air and experienced the thrill of a lifetime! As if that wasn’t scary enough, I watched my 12-year old do it, too. Fear doesn’t stop us!
Although not as insanely scary as bungie jumping, living fearlessly for me lately has meant taking classes in web programming and fighting through a grueling continuing education certificate program. It took me two and half years to finish and I graduated last week…cue the applause, please!
If I can scare myself every day, it means I can push the boundaries of what I previously thought possible. Sometimes, writing the intro to our weekly newsletter scares me, but I feel privileged to share with our readers a few times a month!
“We have nothing to fear but fear itself.” Another great quote, but this was said by Eleanor’s husband. I wonder whose quote was said first?
Do something scary today, neighbors. Sign up to learn yoga or fight your fear of needles and give blood at the Carol H. Axelrod Blood Drive. Don’t let fear stop you!
Enjoy!
Beth

Q: Is it possible to lose 10lbs by Memorial Day?
A: Yes! Better yet, you can lose 10 pounds of fat by Memorial Day.

We have helped people lose that last 10 pounds and other people lose 100 pounds over several months. It’s all about knowing what your body needs to lose weight and then just do it!
1.    Focus on lean protein and complex carbohydrates only. Get a list and to stick to it.
2.    Increase consumption of electrolyte H2O. Know how much your body needs and keep track.
3.    Increase daily steps (10,000) per day. We recommend a Fitbit to track activity, keeps you moving! Lean muscle is the key!
4.    Exercise speeds up weight loss. If you want to lose 10 by summer then exercise 5X’s per week with interval training, it’s the most effective
5.    Meal prep!! You MUST have healthy food choices available. And non-healthy food out of the house!
6.    Log all meals and workouts. This keeps you accountable and you’re more apt not to cheat.
7.    Eliminate alcohol. Hey, it’s only 6 weeks! Alcohol is high in sugar & it’s empty calories. If you must – drink a spritzer!
8.    Get adequate sleep.
9.    Find a nutrition counselor/ support system. Research shows you can lose weight by combining diet, exercise and counseling.
10. The key to losing 10lbs of fat by Memorial Day is
