From the Camp Director,
December is here and Christmas is right around the corner. We are very sorry we have had to cancel our Christmas at the Rock for this year. We were so looking forward to a time to celebrate with our Hanging Rock Family the Birth of Christ. This year has see some challenges for sure. My prayer is that you will make time to celebrate the Birth of Christ all month with your family at home and also with your church family.
One of things I so much enjoy about Christmas is when our family would gather early in the morning, we have one of our children that likes to get everyone up at 4am to do Christmas not mentioning any names (Kirsten). We would gather our family around the Christmas tree where, in sight of the gifts we were receiving from one another, we would read the Christmas story together. It was a gentle reminder that the reason we give gifts is not because the Magi brought gifts to the Christ-child. Rather, our gifts of love for one another were a reflection of God’s greater Gift of love to us.
Nothing could ever match the gift God has given us in His Son, a reality which echoes in Paul’s words to the church at Corinth, “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” (2 Cor. 9:15).
Clearly, God’s willingness to send His Son to be our rescue is a gift that words cannot fully comprehend. This is the gift that we celebrate at Christmas—for Christ Himself is truly what matters most.
From the Baker Family to your Family Merry Christmas.
