New Student Nusrah’s Perspective on Remote Learning at UMass

Nusrah Azeez is a friendly new face in the Communication department at UMass Amherst. Living at home this semester is not what she hoped for, but she is making the most of it by really focusing on what’s important to her, which is getting good grades and meeting people. For Nusrah, remote learning so far, “ has not been as bad as I thought it was going to be… going to school would be easier because you have other people you can talk to and work on things with, but it’s been okay. I’ve had some problems but there are people I’ve reached out to and I got help.” She reaches out to the Peer Advisors, her Communication academic advisor, her peers in her classes, and professors.

Scholarships & Opportunities

Dana Farber Communication Internship

Dana-Farber's Communications department performs many of the functions of a full-service, in-house communications agency — for which they have won numerous awards from the New England Society for Healthcare Communications, the Publicity Club of New England, Women in Communications, and others. They use their communications expertise to support Dana-Farber's fight against cancer by: building awareness of, and support for, the Institute's life-saving mission, providing marketing and communications services for Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center and Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, enhancing communication with patients and families, and helping employees work more effectively. As a Communications intern, you have the opportunity to be part of one of the most active communications departments in our area and make a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families. The deadline for Spring 2020 internships is November 20, 2020. Click here to apply with your cover letter, resume, and 2-3 writing samples (or visual samples for photo and video interns).
