Beginning Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, SUNY Oneonta — in coordination with the state of New York, city of Oneonta, Otsego County Department of Public Health, and Quadrant Biosciences — will host a public testing site for individuals experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
The site will be located in the training room of the Emergency Services Building (ESB, number 11 on the campus map) and is open to anyone in the community who is experiencing COVID symptoms. Appointments must be scheduled in advance through Quadrant's website (link for our Otsego County site coming soon). The tests are the same saliva-based tests that we use at our surveillance testing center, however they will be sent as individual samples (instead of pooled) for lab analysis.
Students and employees experiencing symptoms can use the test site at the ESB but should call their primary care provider first for guidance and advice.
This will not replace our regular asymptomatic surveillance testing operation for the college community in Morris Conference Center. Weekly surveillance testing in Morris will still be required for all exempt or not-yet-fully vaccinated students and for employees who have not provided proof of vaccination (as well as the random sample of vaccinated students and employees selected each week).
As of now, the public site is scheduled to operate through the end of February. We are proud to be able to assist our region with increased access to testing to help combat the impact of COVID in our region. Please contact Covid-support@quadrantbiosciences.com with any questions about the public testing center.
Sincerely,
Alberto J.F. Cardelle
President
