Dear Traveler:

It's been a splendid fall up in Transylvania County. The blue skies, bright leaves and gorgeous hikes through the multi-colored forest have made all of us a little bit giddy . . .well, that and all the candy corn from Halloweenfest. Now that we're coming down off the sugar high some of the folks up here are looking to try out the fireplace and enjoy a few easy weeks before it's time to dress the turkey and haul out the holly.

Autumn's still got a a few tricks up her sleeve before chilling out for winter. And there are plenty of great reasons to get out and enjoy all that Transylvania County has to offer before (or after) you dust off the Pilgrim costume and go for a second helping of Aunt Mabel's sweet potato casserole. Also,"a mountain bike ride in Pisgah Forest on a crisp November morning" is a great way to lead off a 'Things to Be Grateful For" list.
