Bruins for Life: Belmont's Day of Giving |
This March 20th, Belmont University will be holding its Day of Giving, called "Bruins for Life." This is expected to be the biggest Day of Giving in university history.Â
As you consider your participation in Bruins for Life, we'd like to bring your attention to the College of Sciences and Mathematics Innovation Fund. The CSM Innovation Fund promotes research by supporting upgrades to technical infrastructure, student travel to conferences, and meaningful on-campus research experiences. Alumni Share Knowledge with Pre-Health Students |
Last semester, seven
Belmont alumni in various health careers sat down with current pre-health students to give advice and guidance on entering the health care industry. Panelists included Ms. Iveylee Trump, PA-C, Dr. Rachel Hicks, OTD, Dr. Landry Slaughter, PharmD, Dr. Grace Denny, DNP, Dr. Alyson Singh, MD, Dr. Angel Pierson, DVM, and Dr. Justin Smith, MD.Â

Pierson contributed: “While I attended Belmont, I formed relationships with the faculty and my colleagues that shaped my career and who I am as a doctor. It’s important for me to pay that forward!”
- Trump agreed: “Belmont has such a great reputation, and if I can have a small part in educating/preparing the next generation, then I will seize it.”

Computer Science Professor Receives Grant to Develop Software Engineering & AI Class |
Assistant Professor of Computer Science Dr. Esteban Parra Rodriguez is determined to help software engineers navigate the new Artificial Intelligence revolution. He was recently awarded a grant to do just that from the Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on Software Engineering.

Specifically, with this grant, Dr. Parra Rodriguez will work with faculty from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, his alma mater, to develop a four-week “Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence (AI)” course this summer.
- This course will be offered synchronously as a software engineering class for Belmont students.

Science Hits the Mainstream during "Front Page Science Week" and SURS |
Last year, Belmont’s annual SURS event was expanded into a full-week highlighting science in pop culture through Front Page Science Week.
“Our job as scientists and mathematicians is not just to dig into this world ourselves but to share what we learn and discover with our community,” shared Dr. Beth Bowman, assistant dean of the College of Sciences and Mathematics.
