2016 Schorreck Lecture Series
RSVP now to attend the 2016 Schorreck Memorial Lecture Speaker Series on 20 June 2016 from 0930 to 1100. This annual lecture series is sponsored by the Center for Cryptologic History and held at the National Cryptologic Museum. This year's program features special guest Daniel Olson, Chief of the Cryptanalysis and Racketeering Records Unit at the FBI Laboratory in Quantico, VA. Highlights will include solved and unsolved ciphers from notorious criminals such as the Zodiac Killer of the 1960s, BTK serial killer Dennis Raeder, as well as the enciphered journal of UNABOMBER Ted Kaczynski. The NCMF would like to extend our sincerest thanks to Eagle Alliance for hosting yet another very successful Crypto Cup golf fundraiser benefiting the NCMF. All totaled, this year's event raised over $33,000! This important annual fundraiser not only helps the NCMF to support the NCM's mission, but it is also a lot of FUN! The "Spy Hole" was a big hit and added to the already excellent total amount raised. Congratulations to ALL the winners! NCM Curator Patrick Weadon Speaks at Battle of Midway Ceremony
At a recent ceremony in Annapolis, MD commemorating the battle considered to have been the turning point in the war in the Pacific, NCM Curator Patrick Weadon spoke about how Navy code breakers broke the Japanese code prior to the battle at Midway. Celebrating 2016 Armed Forces Day & National Police Week at the NCM
Despite the rain, kids of all ages enjoyed the many activities and events that were part of the 2016 Armed Forces Day and National Police Week celebration at the National Cryptologic Museum on Saturday, 21 May. Kids completed the Crypto challenge and received a free ice cream, courtesy of the NCMF. A message from NCM Curator Patrick Weadon.....If you have any rare, unique, one-of-a-kind historical artifacts or documents from your Agency career, please consider contacting the National Cryptologic Museum to determine if they might be appropriate for the museum collection. Please be advised that the NCM already has large numbers of uniforms, slide rules, coffee mugs, award letters and citations, etc. in its collection. We are looking for UNCLASSIFIED unique encryption devices or documents that have an equally unique story to go along with them. Finally, be aware that the donation of an artifact does not guarantee it will be displayed or put on exhibit. The museum number is 301 688-5849. Don't have anything to donate?....
