The Elizabeth Hurlock Beckman Award 2025 Nomination Application Form is now open. The Beckman Award benefits teachers who have inspired their former students to make a significant contribution to society. We are asking alumni to help nominate current or former faculty members. Preference will be given to those in the fields of psychology, medicine or law.

| Stetson Showcase Brings Community Together to Celebrate Student Achievement and Philanthropy

Yesterday, April 15, 2025, Stetson University hosted Showcase, an annual celebration of student research, creativity and performance. The day provided an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the university to engage with academic projects across disciplines, highlighting the innovation and dedication of Stetson’s students. As part of the day’s events, members of the Stetson Society, 1883 Society and Leadership Society were invited to a special Donor Appreciation Luncheon, where they connected with students, including Presidential Fellows and members of Green, White, and YOU, Stetson’s student philanthropy organization. On April 6, Stetson’s undergraduate Mock Trial team made history with their first-ever bid to the American Mock Trial Association Nationals in Cleveland — and they didn’t stop there. Team member Temi Adediji earned Stetson’s first All-American Attorney award, and the team is now ranked 65th in the nation! We’re incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication and historic season.

Stetson’s Emergency Medical Services is seeking your help to support their program, which trains students to become Certified First Responders and Emergency Medical Technicians, equipping them to respond to medical emergencies on campus.

| Hatter's Closet, Stetson's on-campus initiative to support the local Hatter community through pop-up shops, is looking for your support. They aim to minimize waste, reduce fast fashion and help raise funds for those in need.

Connor Jensen ’23 contributed to Security and Society in the Information Age Volume 7, an open-access academic publication examining global security issues. His article appears on page 231. The full volume is available for download under a Creative Commons license via Figshare. This marks his first published academic work.

Kayla Johnson ’13 directed a film called Fatherless No More that has been selected and nominated for Best Documentary at the Oscar-qualifying Florida Film Festival. The World Premiere was on April 12 with an additional screening taking place on April 17 in Orlando at 4 p.m. Tickets are available now.

Courtney Edgcomb ’12, current Alumni Board member, was named 2025 Young Professional of the Year and honored in this year’s “40 Under Forty” Daytona Beach News-Journal list! As president of United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties, Courtney is a powerhouse of impact, service, and heart — leading bold initiatives, supporting over 100 nonprofits and lighting the way for others.

Kayla Liechty ’90, former music faculty member, has been invited to serve as pianist for the 2026 New Mexico Music Educators Association All-State Mixed Chorus, conducted by Graeme Langager (University of British Columbia). She was also named Music Editor for an upcoming vocal art song anthology of works by composer Manuel Ponce, at the invitation of his great-grandnephew, Omar Herrera.
