There is an old saying that when a task needs doing, ask a busy person to help. Lucine Harvey is always willing to step in and help out. Throughout her overly full days, she makes time to help supply a great number of needs, both on campus and farther afield. Currently, she is creating lovely handmade dolls to be on display and purchased in the UMW Gift Shop, located on the St. Luke’s campus.
In her spare time, she donates many hours to knitting prayer shawls. For more than 25 years, Lucine made yearly mission trips to Armenia, delivering children’s clothing and other needed supplies. It wasn’t long before she was invited to New York City to receive the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, given annually to citizens who exemplify a life dedicated to community service. We are so proud to have her as a St. Luker!
Send us your St. Luke’s photos, and you could be featured on the cover of the Senior Newsletter! Email your photos to evasquez@st.lukes.org.

Juneteenth Live Stream
June 19, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.
Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day, is a deeply important yet not widely recognized day in American history. As we come upon the 155th celebration of this day, we’ve gathered seven St. Lukers to both share knowledge, and most importantly learn what’s really at the heart of the holiday. Whether Juneteenth is brand new to you, or you’ve been celebrating it your whole life, you won’t want to miss this special live-streamed event. Tune in and watch this video presentation in honor of Juneteenth on St. Luke’s Facebook page Saturday, June 19 at 7:00 p.m.
